Cat’s Divine Creations – Catherine Simpson
The idea to paint did not start in school it actually started at age 60+ after going to a “Painting with a Twist” party and in classes given by Robson Ranch teachers Judy Riffel and Carolyn Buckman. Then I took a class and as I was tearing paper to glue on canvas I heard about something called Resin.
By this time I had had a tumor, I not so fondly named Charlie, removed from my brain. He was evicted on May 23, 2019 and instead of paying for the rent he owed, he left me with an ear that is now for looks only and a balance that isn’t so reliable at night. Due to my newly acquired single-sided deafness having to listen really hard at television and in crowds I decided it wasn’t worth it. I needed something to replace these activities.
It wasn’t long till the Lord gave me a dream and I had a paint brush in my hand and a big smile. I quickly learned the benefits of YouTube and a new world opened up for me. Contemporary, abstract and resin art became my passion. After my first commissioned art sale was completed and my neighbor pleased, I was amazed at what joy I felt in knowing that my art was hanging in their home.
After almost burning down the house twice, my garage has become our studio. I use the word our because I never feel alone as I am painting. Sometimes I hear my best friend, Jesus, whisper “that’s a color from heaven…let’s do this picture together. I’ll help” The results of our partnership brings art to a new dimension.
